Dyslexia
If parents are concerned that their child may have dyslexic traits, please speak to the class teacher or Miss Mansfield. School staff are unable to formally diagnose Dyslexia, however we can run a screening test that screens for tendencies. If staff have concerns, they will speak to parents about next steps. When we have run a screening test due to concerns, we will develop a one page plan for the child which will cover any adaptations made in class such as use of an ACE dictionary or colour overlay. If a formal diagnosis is required, parents/carers will need to arrange this with an external company. Parents are welcome to share any foraml diagnosis report with school so that any further recommendations can be put into place and the child's one page plan updated.
ASD and ADHD
If parents are concerned that their child may have autistic traits or traits of ADHD, please speak to the class teacher or Miss Mansfield. If staff have concerns, they will speak to parents about next steps. Miss Mansfield can make an initial referral to Open Minds (CAMHS) for neurodivergent needs. If the initial referral is accepted, questionnaires will be sent to parents and school to complete. We will develop a one page plan for the child (at referral stage) which will cover any adaptations made in class such as use of physical breaks or fidget toy. Parents are welcome to share any foraml diagnosis report with school so that any further recommendations can be put into place and the child's one page plan updated. Once a formal diagnosis is given, we also refer to the Specialist Inclusion Team who can offer support such as Transition workshops and Self Awareness Workshops.
